Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (180 ml) Oikos PRO Plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup (250 ml) self‑raising flour (or all‑purpose flour plus 2 tsp. baking powder)
  • Extra flour, for dusting

Directions

1Combine the ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, add the flour and yogurt. Stir until the mixture starts to come together, then use your hands to form a ball of dough. 2Rest the dough: Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough sit for about 5 minutes. This helps relax the dough, making it easier to roll. 3Divide and roll: Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 4 equal pieces. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into thin, round flatbreads. 4Cook the flatbread: Heat a non‑stick skillet over medium heat. Cook each flatbread for 2–3 minutes on the first side until golden spots form, then flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes. For added flavour and softness, you can brush a little oil to the dough before cooking. 5Serve: Enjoy the flatbread warm as a wrap, with dips, or alongside your favourite dishes.

Questions Related to the Easy Yogurt Flatbread

Can I Use Plain Flour Instead of Self-Raising Flour?

Yes, you can easily swap self‑raising flour for plain flour. If you do, just remember to add baking powder to help the dough rise. The dough to make these yogurt flatbreads is very easy to make by mixing your flour, leavening, and yogurt. Simply add the yogurt and stir until the dough starts to form, then knead briefly until smooth before rolling it out.

How Can I Store Leftover Flatbread?

Once cooled, place any cooked flatbread in a stack and store the yogurt flatbread in an airtight container at room temperature for a day or in the fridge for up to three days. If you prefer to freeze it, wrap each flatbread individually before placing them together in a freezer bag. To reheat, cook the flatbreads in a hot skillet for a minute or two until warm and soft again.

Can I Flavour the Dough with Herbs or Spices?

Absolutely. Fresh or dried herbs, spices like cumin or paprika, or even a pinch of garlic powder can be mixed in with the flour before you add the yogurt and stir. These subtle additions can turn a basic dough into a delicious flatbread that pairs well with dips, soups, or grilled dishes. Just avoid adding too much moisture, so the dough is still easy to handle and shape.
